My love of sewing began in a home economics classroom in the 7th grade. I since cultivated my professional sewing skills as a student at Brigham Young University studying Clothing Construction. My education and passion led me to working in a Bridal alterations and Redesign shop, trading sewing favors for hair dos, late night sewing for that perfect outfit to impress and thank you hem jobs.
Whenever people find out I sew, the first thing they ask is, "did you make your shirt?" Well truth is I find no greater joy in life than a killer deal. I've found custome sewing basic tops and bottoms cost more time and more money than bargain shopping. But often bargains are too large, too long, too short or out of style. But that's where my sewing skills have shined. My $4 flared dress pants that fit my bum just right become trendy straight leg, cropped dress pants for work.
Since so many have requested for sewing projects I decided to give the people what they want..and that's KelseyJ.

KelseyJ is devoted to excellence. My motto comes from my time spent in the BYU sewing labs which taught me "we don't alter our BODIES to fit our clothes, we alter out CLOTHES to fit our bodies". This means we don't gain weight our hurt ourselves in order to fit an outfit. It's easier to modify the outfit. With custom sewing we can create outfits perfect for our bodies and style.
My business is dedicated to all the crotches I have sewn back into ripped pants, all the hundreds of pants I have hemmed, boys I've heard complain about their baggy Sunday shirts and my love of sewing.
